Self-Harm Counselling Services
People engage in self-harming for many reasons. Like all choices we make, it is important to work out why we might choose to do so and part of that investigation is to look at what we gain from it. It may sound strange, but every choice we make provides something for us in some way, otherwise, why would we do it?
Maybe you know already know, maybe you don’t. Maybe it provides a sense of relief or calm for you. Maybe it soothes the pain you feel inside in some way. Some people say it makes them feel at least something when they feel so numb inside. Some say that it happens when they are angry at either themselves or others. Maybe it happens for a different reason each time. For many, it can feel like it seems impossible to control.
All you know is that now begins the rituals of cleaning up and hiding it. Waiting for the wounds to heal. Maybe you hope people notice so that they will ask you what’s wrong. Won’t someone at least help?
You need to know that it can be different for you and that you are not alone. At Seeds of Life Counselling, you will find ways to identify and name the feelings that are leading you to make these choices.
Then we will work together to find different ways of feeling and expressing those feelings. You will find that you won’t be judged and will be met with genuine compassion and understanding.
At Seeds of Life, you will find that it is more than just talking about alternative strategies. It is a place where you can talk about how life can be truly different and how you are truly feeling. If you are reading this, you know that you want things to be different.
Now might be the right time to talk to Bec from Seeds of Life about taking the next step.
